Philosophy
The essence of Shorecrest is the strong connection between teacher and student. Our approach to teaching fosters the development of personal and academic excellence through challenging students while supporting them and encouraging each student to meet their individual potential. We aspire to foster students' natural curiosity, inspire excitement about learning, and build their confidence in their abilities to impact their communities in ways large and small.
At Shorecrest, we take pride in our identity as a PK3-12th grade school, ensuring that our college preparatory curriculum is developmentally appropriate at each grade level. We work to support and prepare our students for the next step on their learning journey - be it the move from preschool to kindergarten, high school to college, or anywhere along the way. We value a strong foundation in fundamentals, skills and knowledge, while also appreciating the many sides of learning that cannot be measured in a traditional test. We aspire to prepare our students for their futures in an ever-changing world, and work to continuously evaluate and adapt our methods and materials to meet student needs.
Charged by our Mission, we prioritize the pursuit of personal and academic excellence, physical well-being through athletics, creative achievement through the arts, and the development of a commitment to social responsibility through service learning. Guided by our Core Values of Responsibility, Respect, Integrity, Knowledge and Compassion, we believe that students benefit from being a part of a diverse and inclusive community where they feel safe to explore new opportunities, express themselves authentically, and find their passions.
