Shorecrest Preparatory School seeks students who will benefit most from attending Shorecrest and who will contribute to the well-being of the school community along with their family.
The School adheres to the Principles of Good Practice as outlined by the National Association of Independent Schools.
Admission is based on selective criteria that may include an admissions interview, standardized testing, classroom observation, prior school record, teachers’ recommendations and good character. In making a decision, the Admissions Committee may give special consideration to faculty and/or staff children. While we welcome all inquiries and applications, we regret we are not able to accept every qualified applicant based on our capacity.
Students who are in the wait pool at Shorecrest and then are admitted after the start of extra-curricular or athletic programs according to Florida State Statutes and FHSAA Bylaw 9.3.2.3 place the authority of transfers on the receiving school. This determination must be made by Shorecrest Prep, referencing any policy and administrative procedure the school may have in place regarding students coming from a waiting pool.
Shorecrest Preparatory School does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, color, national or ethnic origin in admissions policies, financial assistance, athletic and other school-administered programs.
If space in a grade is not available, admissible students will be notified of wait pool status. If a space becomes available, the Admissions Committee will review all of the applicants in the wait pool and make a decision based on the current profile needs of that class.
International Students at Shorecrest
Shorecrest Preparatory School welcomes international applicants for at least one academic year into our dynamic educational environment. Our community welcomes and supports students and families from all backgrounds, helping international students transition smoothly to Shorecrest.
Some international students reside with their families locally, while others live with a host family. Shorecrest is a day school and is unable to provide on-campus boarding or the coordination of selecting a host family.
In addition to our admissions requirements, international students applying for grades 5-12 should provide:
- 2 years of academic transcripts, both in original language and with official notarized English translations with grading scale.
- TOEFL scores for proof of English proficiency
- Middle and Upper School applicants must demonstrate that they have sufficient proficiency in English to be successful in our college-preparatory curriculum. In lieu of an in-person visit, International applicants participate in virtual assessments or have an Admissions Interview prior to making an admissions decision.
F-1 VISA / I-20 Forms
In most cases, international students will need an I-20 form in order to obtain an F-1 visa to enter the United States. Shorecrest Preparatory School will issue an I-20 form after a student has been accepted for enrollment.
For detailed information on tuition and fees for international students, please contact the Admissions Office at [email protected]. We look forward to working with you throughout the admissions process.
