Since its founding in 1923, Shorecrest Preparatory School has been a vital part of the fabric of St. Petersburg and the Tampa Bay Area. What began as a modest outdoor school for seasonal visitors is now one of the top schools in the State of Florida, educating a diverse community of more than 1,000 students from 3 years old through 12th grade.

Our First 100 Years

Founded in 1923 as the Shorecrest Outdoor School, Shorecrest served the children of seasonal visitors in its open-air, waterfront classrooms at its original location on North Shore Drive in St. Petersburg. Once a school With determined leadership, dedicated teachers, and engaged students and families, the School grew to become the premier PK-12 independent school in Pinellas County.

2023 marked Shorecrest's centennial, making it one of the longest tenured independent schools in the State of Florida.
