Chargers Volleyball at GEM Tournament

Shorecrest Chargers JV volleyball played in the two-day Florida GEM High School Classic tournament in Wesley Chapel. JV went 2-1 on Friday and 1-1 on Saturday. (A win v. Polk Christian 2-0, a win v. Citrus 2-0, and a loss v. The Villages 0-2. A loss v. McKeel Academy 0-2, a win v. Lake Gibson 2-0.)

The Chargers played an amazing first day and scored a spot in the Silver bracket for Saturday's play. The girls built momentum over the course of the day, and scored an exciting win to close out the day. They ended third in the silver bracket.

Each player contributed to the overall success of the team. Victoria Anderson '28 did a great job keeping the ball in play when attacking from the outside. She also had impressive serve receive and defense. Setter Sara Ferris '28 led the team in assists. Lucy Harris '28 had a stand out showing as a middle blocker, recording a number of pivotal kills for the team. Libero Jesse Diner '28 led the team in digs, taking a leadership role in the back row for the Chargers. Avary Fleming '28 scored some impressive kills in the final match of the tournament, swinging big down the line.  

Overall, the Chargers played a great tournament of volleyball, competing at a high level with new opponents from across the area.
