Special Olympics Fall Classic 2023 a Success

Upper School News Service News

On Saturday, September 23, close to 90 students from Shorecrest’s Upper School volunteered at the Special Olympics Hillsborough and Pinellas Fall Classic on the Shorecrest campus. Each student was assigned to an athletic event, set up, clean up, logistics or the Olympic Village. Upper School students created an inclusive and supportive environment as they cheered on the athletes while they competed in Powerlifting, Flag Football, Pickleball, Corn Hole and Softball. More than 300 Special Olympics athletes, coaches, and Unified partners  participated in the day’s competition.

Student Council members helped promote the volunteer event among the student body and they organized the Olympic Village, which consisted of booths with themed activities and games.

It was a great day of teamwork, community-building and service!
