Anatomy Students Scrub In
February 19, 2015
Upper school science teacher Lisa Peck states, "The only good thing that came out of my needing surgery last fall was the connection I made with my surgeon, Dr. Richard Fansler."
This week her Anatomy students began their field experiences at Largo Medical Center; shadowing her surgeon for a day. Each Wednesday, two of Mrs. Peck's students will shadow Dr. Fansler as he does his rounds and surgeries. Dr. Fansler is a general surgeon who, as a former faculty member of the Tulane University Department of Surgery, truly enjoys teaching students who are interested in medicine. What an amazing opportunity for high school students to scrub up and be present during surgeries!
Pictured here, seniors Monica C. and Georgia L. were the first students to shadow Dr. Fansler. Ask the girls about their experience when you see them!
