Georgia L. Wins two Photography Awards

Upper School News

Senior Georgia L. won a Silver Medal from Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for her photography. This is the first time (as far as our staff can recall) that a Shorecrest student has received this national recognition for their visual artwork! The award ceremony will be in June at Carnegie Hall.

Since 1923, these Awards have recognized teenagers from across the country. By winning this award, Georgia joins a legacy of celebrated authors and artists such as Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Robert Redford, John Currin and Lena Dunham. More than 300,000 works of art and writing were submitted by students in grades 7-12. Winning a national award places Georgia within the top 1% of all submissions!

Another of Georgia's photos was recently chosen for exhibition at the Dali Museum for the Dali Student Surrealist Show. Attached are her photos for both events.
