Pack 303’s Cub Scout Camp-Out

Upper School News

Last Saturday was Pack 303’s Cub Scout Camp-Out. The boys participated in a US Flag retirement ceremony, played kick ball, learned how to build oil lanterns using oranges, made s’mores and had a colossal Nerf battle! The boys had a blast!

They were also lucky to have older Shorecrest Middle School and Upper School role models in attendance. They are Boy Scouts in Troop 219. They are all working towards eventual Eagle Scout rank, albeit each is at different stages. It is a long and involved but worthy process with a lot of great, hard work involved.

The middle and high school boys serve as "Den Chiefs" for Cub Scout Pack 303, of which they were all once members before advancing to Boy Scouts. A Den Chief's job is to assist the Cubmaster and the Pack leaders with the younger boys during activities. In Boy Scouts, to achieve rank advancement on the path to Eagle rank, members must serve in a variety of leadership roles, and acting as a Den Chief is one of those.

Thanks Cub Master Brian O’Neill & Catherine Cobb for hosting such a fun night! Thanks also to Shorecrest staff, Mr. Murphy, Tom Dillow and Lisa Bianco for letting us camp out and spend the night!
