The Story Voyage Continues...

Upper School News

A few weeks ago, Upper School Theatre students visited first grade classes. They showed examples of playwriting and improvisation. First graders were then challenged to write a short story that the high schoolers could act out.

On February 11, eager first graders were finally invited to the Black Box Theatre to watch the Upper School students bring their stories to life! There was little prep, few props, and a lot of improvisation. This was both an assessment of the Upper School class and a special treat for the younger visitors.

Project based learning in the classroom like this stresses cross-curricular skills such as writing, innovation, creativity, public speaking, improvisation and more! It's great to be in an environment where both 6 year olds and 16 year olds can learn and grow from a shared project.
