Senior Ginny S. earned first place awards for Musical Theatre and Classical Voice at the February 20 regional competition of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the world’s largest professional association of voice instructors. The prestigious, invitation-only program showcases talented singers and performers whom the judges consider rising stars in the profession.

Among the six songs Ginny performed was “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again” from Shorecrest Upper School's upcoming Spring Musical "Phantom of the Opera" (April 14-16 in the Janet Root Theatre.)

Last month, Ginny was a Florida state finalist in the Schmidt Youth Vocal Competition held in Sarasota. Recommended by her vocal teacher and Shorecrest Alumni parent, Mary K. Wilson, the contest was judged by world-renowned adjudicators, who also conducted master classes on vocal technique. Ginny received a college scholarship and invitation to study at the organization’s vocal institute this summer.

We can't wait to hear you in "Phantom", Ginny! Congratulations.
