Convocation
Each new Shorecrest school year begins for grades 9-12 with Convocation in the Janet Root Theatre. Speakers who presented to Upper School included Mr. Paige, Head of Upper School, who introduced students to the Marshmallow Test as it relates to delayed gratification. Ask your student if they remember the goal and outcome of this experiment.Headmaster Mr. Murphy gave students a brief history of Shorecrest and tied some of its founders to their relatives who are on campus today - more than one in the Class of 2020!
Taylor Andrews '20, President of the Honor Council, reminded students, "if you are actively being ethical, you don't have to worry about accidentally breaking the rules."

Please remind your teenage drivers:
- Children are all around campus - please follow the speed limit
- Traffic is one-way on campus at all times, even after school
- Carline is a cell-phone-free zone
Mark your calendars
- The varsity football game scheduled for Aug 16 (at Bradenton Christian) has been postponed until Saturday, August 17 at 6pm.
- Wednesday, August 21: Learn more about Chargers Baseball at an interest meeting at 6pm in Charger Commons. For parents and students in grades 3-12.
- Thursday, August 29
- Picture day. Every student in grades 9-11 has their photo taken for the yearbook, whether they purchase a package or not.
- Senior Launch for parents of twelfth graders at 6pm
- Upper School Back to School Night at 7pm
- Friday, August 30: Fall Sports Tailgate Party, 5pm. Before cheering on the Shorecrest Chargers at their first home football game of the season, we have a fun tailgate party planned for everyone! There will be food trucks, bounce houses, and activities for all. Make sure to wear your green and gold Spirit Wear to show your Chargers Spirit!
- Saturday, August 31: All School Social, 5pm.
- Monday, September 2: School closed, Labor Day
