Tiffany Blessing, Director of College Counseling, Invited to Serve on Princeton Advisory

Shorecrest Director of College Counseling, Tiffany Blessing, has been invited to serve on Princeton University’s inaugural Princeton Counselor Advisory (PCA). PCA is an 15-member group of college access advisors and college counselors invited to work with the Princeton Office of Admission to increase the transparency of the Princeton Admissions Office, highlight offerings of the University’s academic departments, shed light on the financial aid program, and to live out the unofficial motto of Princeton: “In the nation’s service and in service of humanity.”
The advisory board comprises 15 counselors from around the world, representing groups ranging from community organizations, to public and private schools. According to Princeton Dean of Admission, Karen Anderson, “This group of nominees represents some of the most innovative, forward-thinking, and well-informed college access advisors and college counselors who have worked with our officers.”
Mrs. Blessing, who has served as Shorecrest Director of College Counseling since 2013, is the sole PCA representative from the State of Florida. She holds a B.A. and M.Ed. in Counseling from the University of Virginia, and has worked in undergraduate admissions at the University of Virginia, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Colgate University. Mrs. Blessing transitioned from higher education to independent schools bringing her wealth of knowledge about the world of highly selective admissions, athletic recruitment, special academic programs and artistic portfolios.
“I am not surprised that Princeton selected Mrs. Blessing for this position - her passion, expertise, and creativity are evident in everything she does,” says Shorecrest Head of Upper School, Don Paige. “Princeton will receive sage and judicious advice from Mrs. Blessing, and I am ecstatic about the ideas that she will be able to bring back to our campus and share with our community.”
PCA members represent all dimensions of diversity, including school type, lived experience, geographic area, specific population served, career path, etc. The group is designed to foster exciting conversation and manifest actionable objectives that the Princeton Office of Admission can carry out to not only better serve students who are applying to Princeton, but also college-bound students in general. The group will meet annually on campus to discuss ideas, foster meaningful conversations and give the Advisory members a chance to experience some of what Princeton has to offer students.
“I consider it an honor to serve one of the nation's leading institutions alongside passionate and experienced professionals. The conversations and work addressing significant challenges in higher education excite me,” Mrs. Blessing shares. “I consider it one of the greatest honors of my fifteen years in admissions and counseling.”
The PCA held its first meeting in early December and intends to meet regularly throughout an 18-month term.
