Honoring and Thanking Veterans

Upper School News

The Honor Flight Network is a nonprofit organization that celebrates America's veterans by inviting them to share in a day of honor at national memorials at no cost to the veteran. In the Spring/Summer 2022 volume of the Honor Flight of West Central Florida’s newsletter, “What’s Up?”, Chargers received a thank you in an article which read:

“During each return Honor Flight, Veterans are given a surprise bundle of messages from those who want to say thank you. Families and friends often write to specific Vets, but we are all invited to express gratitude to all the Vets on the flight. The students at Shorecrest Preparatory School in St. Petersburg wrote letters to Honor Flight Veterans on two flights! Here teacher Lisa Peck and senior student Jaina Swann ‘22, who has an appointment to the Air Force Academy, present a bundle of letters at the Mission #41 Welcome Home. Also present but not pictured was Victoria D’Agostino ‘23. Peck is the faculty advisor to the school’s service-oriented Red, White and Blue Club. The students are club officers. Thank you, Shorecrest Preparatory School. You are making a difference!”

The Chargers went to the Honor Flight arrival at St Pete/Clearwater Airport on May 10, 2022. As arranged by the Red, White and Blue Club, they brought 95 letters which Shorecrest students had written and decorated during Service Week.
