Students Leading Lessons

Upper School News

In Ms. Updike's A.P. Literature and Composition course, seniors choose a short story to teach the class within Unit 1: Prose Analysis in preparation for the exam. During one lesson, Enzo Pagano '23 prepared an interactive game of Chutes and Ladders for his peers which required answering questions about William Faulkner's "A Rose for Emily" (pictured.)

In addition to facilitating a game and active class discussion over concepts of the Southern Gothic, a setting within the Reconstruction era south, gender dynamics, symbolism of death and decay, and collective narration, students are also tasked with choosing a thematically-connected poem to analyze as well as create a vocabulary list and a written activity to give students additional preparation for the exam.

Other students have led a murder mystery, Jeopardy, memory matching, and Pictionary, among other games.
