First Graders Share Projects on the Human Body

Lower School News

The first graders have been studying the human body. They have been super scientists learning about the systems of the body in class, through their own research, and from fantastic guest experts. Related field experiences, such as a trip to John Hopkins All Children's Hospital's Center for Medical Simulation and Innovative Education, extended learning beyond the classroom.

Projects encourage the children to collaborate and work cooperatively to present the knowledge they gain. Many first grade projects were based around the heart and circulatory system, lungs and respiratory system, the brain as the boss of the body, eyes, and the skeletal system and bones making blood. Other topics and lessons have been about digestion and healthy habits, germs, emergency medicine, and much more.
