Celebrating Legacy Families [video]

Upper School News

Shorecrest alumni and their Shorecrest students gathered in Charger Commons on Friday, February 28 for the Alumni Association's annual Legacy Breakfast. For nearly 70 current Shorecrest families, donning the green and gold is a family tradition!

Shorecrest alumni serve as members of the Board of Trustees, as Shorecrest Faculty, as club advisors and coaches, as guest speakers in classrooms and of course as parents! This year, 100 Chargers attending Shorecrest are following in the footsteps of their parents who walked this campus as students some years ago. Legacies are an important component of community-building here at Shorecrest. What is unique about our Legacy group is how our alumni dreamed of how the same educational path would work for their children.

For Dr. Jay Epstein '84, it was about connectivity and community that made it an easy decision for him to send his three daughters to Shorecrest. Jay reflected on his time at Shorecrest and how his daughters have reimagined long-standing traditions as their own. Dressed in his letterman’s jacket, Jay shared the special connection he has with his daughter, Lauren ‘21 as they both played on the Charger soccer teams and on the same field.

Along with a slideshow of nostalgic photos and a video showcasing the importance and connection of Legacy students with their parents (below), the Shorecrest families also enjoyed an impromptu trivia game focused on the history of Shorecrest.
