Seventh Graders Plan for a Voyage to the New World

Over the coming weeks, the seventh graders in Mr. Hodgson’s class will be learning about a past voyage of exploration to colonize the New World. They will be following the exact route made 407 years ago by English adventurers. At the beginning of each class they will be writing about the trials they face in this new land.
This week, the students began the activity by examining Sir Richard Hakluyt’s “Keys to a Successful Expedition.” In small groups they had to decide on what personnel and supplies they would bring with them on their voyage.
