Dr. Baralt: International Leader in Educational Technology

In March 2015, Dr. Anna Baralt was asked by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) to serve on its ISTE Standards Core Team to refresh its standards for students and teachers. The ISTE Standards are recognized worldwide as the global standard for learning, teaching and leading in the digital age. As a spin-off of this work, Dr. Baralt was invited to participate in a unique opportunity to serve in a global professional development experience with technology coaches in Malaysia.
Working as an ISTE faculty member, she traveled in May to Jitra, Kedah, in northern Malaysia to offer a five-day, on-site training to 30 Malaysian coaches in the areas of the ISTE Standards for Students as well as Computational Thinking Skills. The professional learning experience qualifies coaches who can train and support administrators and classroom teachers to effectively use technology and digital resources for instruction and learning. Additionally, she will continue her work in August by facilitating a 10-week online course with the coaches.
