TLC MAKE TO LEARN (FOR PARENTS), Dec 8

Faculty Spotlight

Make To Learn
December 8, 2015
Noon-1pm in the SAC

Bring your Lunch and learn all about why 'Making', creativity and innovation are crucial in helping students learn. Do you want your child to have 21st Century skills, be a problem solver, an independent thinker, as well as practice using these skills to cement what they learn in school?

Are you interested in knowing how teachers are using the science of learning, and what you as a parent can do to support and enhance your child's learning? Then plan to join us on the 8th.

Media Specialist Dottie Smay and Director of Education Technology and Innovation Nicole St. Armand will be guest speakers. They will lead a discussion of how Shorecrest Lower School teachers use brain-based teaching strategies as well as cutting edge educational research to develop lessons and projects that enhance retention and understanding of key curriculum concepts. They will share class and student examples of how project-based learning with the integration of art and technology and our Makerspace are all a “Hands On-Minds On” approach to learning. A make-to-learn approach promotes critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication, which are key 21st century skills!

Attendees will also tour the Makerspace and try their hand at making!

Please RSVP to Tracie Belt at 727-456-7528, and we will save you a spot. Shorecrest will provide drinks and deserts. We hope to see you there.
