Richard Strand is one of the funniest playwrights in the country. Bill Leavengood met Mr. Strand when they were both O'Neill playwrights at the National Playwright's Conference in 1995, and they have stayed in touch for the past 20 years. Richard traveled from Los Angeles to Sarasota, Florida, for the opening of a production of his play "Butler" at Florida Studio Theatre. While nearby, he came to Shorecrest to talk with Theatre and Playwriting students.
For 15 years, Shorecrest Thespians have been winning all kinds of honors in competitions presenting scenes from Mr. Strand's plays, such as "10% of Molly Snyder", "The Death of Zukasky", "The Bug", "Lincoln Park Zoo" and "Second Story Man". Thank you for joining us, Mr. Strand!
