Second Grade is in the middle of an eight-week unit during which the students are experiencing the complete life cycle of a plant in a very short time. This unit features rapid-cycling Wisconsin Fast Plants, which go from seed to seed in 40 days. They've learned that the cycle includes germination, growth, development of specialized parts, and even death, with the promise of new life in the seed.
This week, many of the students observed the development of flowers and flower buds on their plants and are learning more about the flower's anatomy. They are looking forward to using bee sticks to cross-pollinate their plants over the next week.
