A Spotlight on The Sports Broadcasting Club

Athletics Upper School News

Shorecrest's Sports Broadcasting Club (SBC) works hard to make sporting events across campus feel special for Chargers and their fans. The Athletic Department sat down with Club co-President, Braden Stone '26, to learn more about his passion for the club and the sense of community it fosters. Here’s a highlight from that conversation.

Braden Stone Class of 2026What got you into the Sports Broadcasting Club?
Braden: I want to be a sports broadcaster, so it's my passion. I joined the club right when I got to high school.

What is drawing you to want to become a sports broadcaster?
Braden: I've always been good at - and enjoy - writing and telling stories. I also have a passion for sports. I've watched and played sports since I could walk and talk. To be able to talk about sports and get paid for it seems like something I would love to do. It merges all of my interests.

Why should people join the Sports Broadcasting Club? What should people know about it?
Braden: If people are at all interested in athletics, they should join us. We do everything that has to do with promoting the games, including live announcing. It's honestly a lot of fun to be involved with the games and the community. The community at the games in the student section is really fun. I like that a lot.

The Sports Broadcasting Club assists with setup, advertising and announcing Shorecrest athletic events and news. The club strives to help the Athletic Department provide an enjoyable experience at all home athletic events.
