Grandparents and Special Friends: Thank you for joining us!

Grandparents

Grandparents and Special Friends Day returned for its 37th year as a beloved Shorecrest tradition. This year's event, held on April 22, brought together more than 400 guests that included grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings and all kinds of special friends. On a beautiful Friday, we celebrated our community coming together again after two years of separation.

The day began with a continental breakfast in Charger Commons. Next, guests walked over to the Gaffney Green for a performance led by Middle School Music Teacher Stephanie McCarthy. Head of School, Nancy L. Spencer and Head of Middle School, Kris Grant, shared wonderful remarks before Grandparents and special friends reveled in musical and theatrical performances from groups spanning the PK3-12 Shorecrest program.

Following the performance, guests explored many of the wonderful activities that their loved ones are working on in their classrooms.

Thank you to SCA's Grandparents and Special Friends Day Chairs, Meghan Coyle, Lindsey Carroll and Corrie Stover '90 for helping to plan this year's event. Thank you also to the parent volunteers who came early to support us during the day's event. The day was a great success due to their hard work and support!

The Grandparent Council encourages grandparents to get involved at Shorecrest and get to know each other. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities for grandparents at Shorecrest from volunteering in the library or a garden, helping with art or athletic events and more. The Council also organizes several social and learning activities during the school year. Attendees enjoy getting to know fellow grandparents and learning more about Shorecrest.
