Shorecrest School

Cross Country at Private School Championship, Districts, Regionals

Athletics Upper School News

Do you know how they score cross country meets? Cross Country (XC) is a team event. Individual finish places are added up (12th + 20th + etc.) of the top five runners to get an overall team score.  The lowest overall team score wins.

Why is this important? Because teamwork makes the dream work!

Shorecrest Chargers XC recently competed in the Private School Championship along with 24 other teams. The Boys JV team got 2nd place. The Boys Varsity team placed 4th overall (both Tampa and Pinellas combined). The Girls Varsity team were the Pinellas County Champions and 2nd overall! Alex Estermera ‘26 from the Varsity Girls team brought home third place.

Shorecrest Chargers XC also ran in the District Meet. Shorecrest Girls Varsity placed 4th to move on to the Regional Meet! Every Charger set Personal Best times at the 5k. Leading the charge with a new personal best time, Alex Estremara ‘26, and the Shorecrest Varsity Girls Team stepped up and ran their way to Regionals. With a clear goal ahead of them, the team of Estremera, Ella Brittingham ‘27, Simi Damani ‘26, Izzi Brown ‘26, Alessandra N. ‘30 and Silvia B. ‘29 banded together to crush their goals and move on to Regionals!

The Shorecrest Boys Varsity team placed 6th and moved on to the Regional Meet. Led by Team Captain Ellis Hart ‘24, the Varsity Boys put in their best performance of the season to capture 6th place and extend their season to Regionals. Clearly motivated to take the next steps, the team of Hart, Asher Walton ‘26, Luke Heckert ‘24, Luca Sandschafer ‘26, Josh Barritt ‘26, Max Schratwieser ‘25, Ryan Majeski ‘25, Jude C. ‘28 and Andreas N. ‘29 kicked it into a new gear to take the Chargers to Regionals.

At the Regional Meet, the Chargers Girls placed 14th and the Boys placed 12th. Alex Estremara ‘26 finished 15th, and just missed an individual invitation to the State meet.
