Student Scholars Present GSI Projects
The Global Scholars Initiative (GSI) is a Shorecrest Upper School signature program that encourages students to accept the challenges of global citizenship. Through the study of world cultures and the acquisition of advanced language skills, participants in the program gain an appreciation for the significance of human choices upon the planet and all of its inhabitants.
This week, seniors John Haddock '24 and Cem Eralp '24 presented their final GSI projects to faculty, peers and family. Topics included "ETA and The Church: An Analysis of the Role of the Catholic Church in the Basque Independence Movements of the 20th Century" and "The Role of Turkish NGOs in the Climate Crisis."
Both students worked on their projects for over two years by conducting interviews with experts, compiling research, and creating a detailed project portfolio.
Additional seniors in the GSI program will be presenting their final projects in February.
