Track & Field Weekly Updates

On March 21, Shorecrest hosted 17 schools at the annual Chargers Invitational Track and Field meet. There were great performances from many athletes! Top three finishes for the girls included Kaja Dionne '24 (1st, 100m), Alex Estremera '26 (1st, 800m), Layla Petrovich '24 (1st, Discus), Sonoma Kasica '24 (1st, Javelin), Sonoma Kasica '24 (2nd, Shot Put), 4x100 relay (3rd, Kaja Dionne '24, Claire James '27, Alanis Job '24, Indi Wells '27), 4x400 relay (2nd, Kaja Dionne '24, Claire James '27, Alex Estremera '26 , Indi Wells '27).

The boys also had a number of athletes place in the top three. Enrique Negrón '25 (2nd, 200m), Ahmad Crumity '25 (1st, Long Jump), Aaron Wein '27 (1st Pole Vault), and Tristan C. (2nd Pole Vault). Overall, it was a great day for Shorecrest as the girls and boys teams performed well.

On March 26, Shorecrest hosted the Senior Night Track & Field Meet. It was a great evening of celebration, reflection, and recognition of our wonderful seniors who have contributed to Chargers Athletics throughout the years. Shorecrest allows visiting schools to also celebrate their seniors on this night, and after their fanfare Shorecrest recognized 12 members of the Class of 2024 including: Akio Jackson '24, Adelaide Oman '24, Alanis Job '24, Daven Fudge '24, Kaja Dionne '24, Layla Petrovich '24, Lily Dunn '24, Logan Chang '24, Luke Heckert '24, Mia Lee '24, Sonoma Kasica '24, Isabella Hursey '24. This senior class has some of our most talented and accomplished athletes in the history of the program! 

Top three performaces at the meet included Kaja Dionne '24 (2nd 100m), Kaja Dionne '24 (3rd, 400), Alex Estremera '26 (2nd, 1600m), Alex Estremera '26 (1st, 3200m), Layla Petrovich '24 (1st, Discus), Sonoma Kasica '24 (1st Javelin), 4x100 relay (3rd, Kaja Dionne '24, Claire James '27, Alanis Job '24, Indi Wells '27), 4x800m (Alex Estremera '26, Adelaide Oman '24, Jenna Kamm '26, Simi Damani '26)

On the boys side, Ahmad Crumity '25 (3rd, 100m), Enrique Negrón '25 (3rd 200m), Aaron Wein '27 (1st Pole Vault), Tristan Chang '27 (2nd Pole Vault), Ahmad C. (2nd Long jump, 2nd triple jump), 4x100 meter relay (2nd, Edward Mitchem '25, Enrique Negrón '25, Ahmad Crumity '25, Nick Bearden '25) and 4x800 relay (2nd, Luca Sandschafer '26, Asher Walton '26, Luke Heckert '24 and Max Schratwieser '25). All in all, it was an amazing evening of track and field to celebrate the seniors!
