Dr. Ann Licht, a Shorecrest Parent, visited Lisa Peck's Intro to Medical Science Class this week. Dr. Licht has been a hand surgeon for over 15 years in Lakeland, Florida. She shared her journey from college life at Cornell University, to Tufts University School of Medicine. After her residency at LIJ Medical Center & Albert Einstein Medical Baylor, Dr. Licht did her Hand Surgery/Microsurgery fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. She said the years of hard work were all worth it.
Dr. Licht shared some images and stories of a variety of hand surgeries she has performed ranging from pediatric surgeries to arthritic conditions. The students were amazed to see the damage which occurred for one man when he was cleaning a loaded gun.
Some of the reconstructive surgeries included in Dr. Licht's presentation will be observed next Monday by two students who will be shadowing her in the OR. Thank you for sharing your time and talents Dr. Licht!
