Dr. Brett Martin visits the Center for Medical Sciences

Upper School News

Last Friday, the Pre-Med Club and Intro to Medical Science and Anatomy students had the opportunity to listen to a presentation by Dr. Brett Martin. Dr. Martin is a chiropractic physician and acupuncturist, and he teaches biochemistry, clinical biochemistry, nutritional biochemistry, medical genomics and botanical medicine at St. Petersburg College and the National University of Health Sciences in Florida.

He spoke to students about herbal medicine, nutritional supplements, posture and how chiropractic medicine is not just cracking bones. Dr. Martin has helped with drug and alcohol rehabilitation as well.

Pre-Med Club member Lexi K said, “Listening to Dr. Martin speak about his profession was very informative, having not known much about chiropractic medicine. He was able to balance teaching while practicing and studying herbal medicines. Listening to doctors speak about their profession and path to get there has given me the opportunity to figure out what I may be interested in studying in college. I would love to learn more about chiropractic medicine, a profession I would have never thought to look into.”

The students thank Dr. Martin for visiting and look forward to his visit next week to discuss acupuncture.
