Shorecrest Sailing Slated for Districts, Host Bake Sale

Upper School News

On Saturday, January 19, the Chargers traveled to Ransom Everglades in Miami for the South Points #4 regatta. They finished 3rd out of 24 high
schools from around the state. They were only 5 points out of 1st place. The highlight of the day was Guthrie Braun '22 and Thomas Cura '21 winning the A division against some tough competition!

This past weekend the team had a home regatta at USF / St Petersburg Sailing Center for the South Points #5. Varsity finished 7th out of 24 teams and JV finished 1st out of 16 teams. The combination of Heidi Hicks '21, Ethan Danielson '22, Aspen Slavick-Gierlach '22, Nolan Pollack '20, Andrew Tang '22 and Trevor H '23 all sailed well to take home the victory!

The team has two South Points regattas left on the schedule. After they are completed, the Top 7 teams will determine who advances to Districts. Currently Shorecrest is in 3rd.

The Chargers also held a bake sale last weekend at their home regatta. It was a huge success! Over $400 was raised and donated to the local US Coast Guard Base. Thank you to all who came out and supported the team and the brave men and women who help keep our waters safe.
