May 1 is National College Decision Day, the day many colleges and universities request a commitment from incoming students. Members of the Class of 2020 and the Shorecrest Marketing Team will be posting photos of the seniors in their college T-shirts online announcing their decisions for next year using the hashtag #shorecrest2020.
"It is tough not to be celebrating this milestone together in person." expressed Tiffany Blessing, Director of College Counseling & Student Leadership. "The College Counseling Team loves this day because it's both an ending and a new beginning. We recognize the successful ending of the application process, which is years in the making. It's also a celebration of the new beginning of our students' lives after Shorecrest.”
“We’re certainly missing the excited commotion in the College Center that usually surrounds this day," she adds. "Seniors and faculty wearing their college T-shirts to school gives the students the opportunity to connect over a shared loyalty to a school. This year we’ll be wearing our shirts with them from a distance, sharing digital applause and remembering we’re still #ShorecrestTogether."
Throughout the month of May, Shorecrest will celebrate the Class of 2020 online. Find our Facebook page here, our Instagram profile here, and our Twitter feed here.
"If you don't already, I encourage you to follow Shorecrest on social media to see spotlights of our seniors through the month of May," said Headmaster Mike Murphy. "If you or your children have a message to share of congratulations, please do so using #shorecrest2020 and we'll be sure that our seniors and their families see it!"
Because the current situation has affected some deadlines, not every senior has made their commitment yet, so we'll continue to highlight them as the info becomes available. The full class profile and matriculation list are showcased on the Meet the Class of 2020 webpage.
