Alumna Hayden Greene ’11 Encourages Chargers

Upper School News

Mrs. Peck’s Intro to Medical Sciences class had a recent visit from Chargers Alumna Hayden Greene ’11, a fourth year medical student. Hayden completed her undergraduate degree at Florida State University, where she graduated magna cum laude with a degree in dietetics. Her research led to contributions in two publications of the American Journal of Physiology.

Hayden encouraged students to have faith in themselves while also having a backup plan. At first Hayden did not get into medical school, so she continued her studies and received an MS in medical sciences from the University of South Florida. As a part of her masters program, Hayden conducted brain research and co-authored two papers and has a patent pending for a viral-vector to help treat a genetic disorder of the brain. In 2019, Hayden returned to Florida State University to begin medical school. She is currently awaiting her “match” for a neurosurgery residency program.

FSU’s program has enabled Hayden to assist during neurosurgeries at many different hospitals. She excitedly described what that is like and shared her insight on the medical school interview process - including the importance of good communication and interpersonal skills.

After sharing her story, Hayden showed Ms. Peck’s students how to take someone's blood pressure.

Hayden has a very bright future and it was so kind of her to come back to her roots and share her experiences with fellow Chargers during such a busy time!
