State Golf: Shorecrest's Greyson P. Tied at the Top after Day 1

In the Press

Shorecrest junior Greyson P could not have asked for a better start to Tuesday's opening round of the Class A state tournament at Mission Inn and Resort at Howey-in-the-Hills.
He birdied the first three holes on the El Campeon Course and finished 2-under 70 and tied for the lead heading into today's final round.

"Obviously, not a bad way to start," Greyson said. "I ended up with six birdies and four bogeys. I had a couple three-putts, but overall it was a good round. I kept my head in it and didn't make many stupid mistakes."

Greyson finished tied for 15th at last year's state tournament on the Deer Island Course in Tavares.

Also in the individual tournament, Canterbury senior Kyle Shealy shot 3-over 75 and was tied for ninth. Clearwater Central Catholic senior Andrew Heric (79) was tied for 25th.

As a team, Shorecrest shot 322 and was in sixth place, 22 shots behind leader Winter Park Circle Christian. Seniors Justin J shot 78, Karim O 81 and Kyle M 93 for the Chargers.
