Every year in Junior Kindergarten, the students are asked to think of their hopes and dreams; things that they really want to learn about or accomplish. This year, after all their dreams were mounted on a wall, Mrs. Hahn shared with her class that her father is fulfilling his dream of cycling across the United States, starting in California and ending in Florida. They have started tracking his progress on a large map with photos and string and are learning new facts for each state he passes through. This week he entered New Mexico, so they called on their first guest expert, Music Teacher Ms. Kemp, who used to live there! She introduced them to the culture of Native Americans and Mexican Americans, etched clay symbols of long ago, and even cooked a special snack - quesadillas! Studying geography has never been so much fun!
