Buddying up for Ocean Studies

Lower School News

To complement the first grade's Ocean Studies unit, eighth grade Marine Science students taught a hands-on lesson about water salinity, sand, and coral.

The young Chargers had the experience of examining, touching, and comparing different types of sand. They measured, studied, and compared the salinity of drinking water and water collected from the 54th Ave canal (eighth graders collected the water yesterday from Shorecrest's Native Classroom). The children also had the chance to look at, touch, and compare different types of coral.

The students were curious to see how their learning overlapped this year despite the age gap.
