Fourth Grade Egg-citing STEAM Challenge

Lower School News

In a fun integration of project-based learning and STEAM education, Shorecrest fourth graders recently embarked on a  design thinking challenge that would put their engineering and problem-solving skills to the test. The challenge was to design a contraption to prevent an egg from cracking when dropped from a specific height. To tackle this challenge head-on, students formed teams and set their innovative minds to work.

The budding engineers crafted prototypes with care and precision, each team aiming to protect their fragile egg as it hurtled down from the second floor of Charger Commons. Regardless of whether their eggs survived the fall or met a more unfortunate fate, these young learners found themselves deeply immersed in the world of problem-solving with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Experiential education not only nurtures critical skills but also ignites a lifelong passion for learning and innovation. The consensus among the fourth-graders? They can't wait for the next challenge, proving that STEAM learning is an incredible opportunity for growth and discovery.
