GSI Students attend TBCFR Dinner
Shorecrest Upper School students who participate in the Global Scholars Initiative (GSI) are invited to attend monthly dinners hosted by the Tampa Bay Committee of Foreign Relations (TBCFR). At the January dinner, Eric Farnsworth (leader of the Washington, D.C. office of the Council of the Americas and the Americas Society) gave remarks titled "China in the Americas: Implications for the Incoming Administration". Within his presentation, he discussed China's increasing economic influence in Latin America. Students in attendance were Brady Moyer '27, Caleb Williams '26 and Sabrina Everhart '25. GSI Director and Upper School Social Studies Chair, Kayla Brazee, was also in attendance.
Shorecrest's participation in the TBCFR dinners have been invaluable to students enrolled in GSI for many years. In addition to giving students the opportunity to meet distinguished members of the foreign relations community, the dinners provide students with insight into topical issues. According to Carter Ford '25, "this real world exposure better prepares us for university, and inspires us to pursue our global-minded ambitions."
