Counselor Spotlight - Judith “JJ” Dalton
JJ Dalton, Middle School Counselor, has a PK-12 Florida Professional School Counseling Licensure and nine years of school counseling experience. She started her career in Pasco County Schools and then worked for Pinellas County Schools for the past six years as an elementary school counselor.
“JJ has been a welcome addition to the Middle School. She is providing support to students and parents on navigating the MS waters,” said Kris Grant, Head of Middle School.
JJ uses her knowledge of adolescent development and solution-focused strategies to help students become successful, independent and empathetic individuals. She is passionate about collaborating with faculty and families to promote student success. JJ also loves incorporating her yoga and mindfulness training into her work with students.
"It is clear that JJ is extremely passionate about her role as the Middle School Counselor. Her ability to connect and care for students is on display everyday. When walking around Shorecrest, JJ can often be seen surrounded by students laughing and smiling. This speaks to her ability to put kids at ease so they feel comfortable opening up to her. JJ's skills are not limited to working with students. She is a valuable member of the counseling team; she provides insight and alternative points of view that encourage others to see things from different perspectives. JJ is an amazing counselor and person, and we are extremely lucky to have her be a part of the Shorecrest community!" shared Brian Wiley, US Counselor.
JJ holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Florida and a Master of Education degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her one-year-old daughter, husband and golden retriever on a boat, at the beach or anywhere outdoors. JJ is happy to have found her home here at Shorecrest.
