Shorecrest Grandmothers enjoyed a lovely afternoon at the 2016 Shorecrest Grandmother’s Luncheon. Shorecrest alumni-parent and noted author Lori Roy gave a special workshop on the topic, “How to write your memoir.” In addition to graduating two children from Shorecrest, Lori is an accomplished author. Her debut novel, BENT ROAD, was awarded the Edgar Allen Poe Award for Best First Novel by an American Author, named a 2011 New York Times Notable Crime Book, and named a 2012 notable book by the state of Kansas. Lori is also the first woman to receive an Edgar Award for both Best First Novel and Best Novel. Her novel LET ME DIE IN HIS FOOTSTEPS was also named an Outstanding Book of Crime Fiction by the New York Times. Her time and talents shared were invaluable.
Thank you also to our hostess, Trustee and Shorecrest grandparent, Jeannine Hascall.
Our next Grandparent's Council event will be December 8: Hour of Code and BeeBot Day with hands-on opportunities to learn from young students about coding and iPad apps.
