The TRP Insurance provides a 75% pro-rated refund upon a non-medical withdrawal, subject to conditions

For families that are concerned about the potential of another mandated move to distance learning, the Tuition Refund Plan through A.W.G. Dewar provides a 75% pro-rated refund to families who withdraw from the school for a qualified, non-medical reason. There is a 100% pro-rated refund if the withdrawal is for a qualified, medical reason. This plan is available to all enrolled Shorecrest families. July 31 is the deadline to purchase this plan for the 2020-2021 school year.

On May 21, representatives from Shorecrest met with Jack Strain from A.W.G. Dewar, the provider of Shorecrest’s Tuition Protection Insurance. He clarified two important facts.
Distance learning days will be counted towards the requisite fourteen calendar day attendance requirement for non-medical withdrawals.

There is no specific exclusion from coverage for pandemics like there is for other factors such as war or the complete closure of Shorecrest (i.e. no in-person nor distance learning).
Therefore, if a family purchases the insurance, and then, after fourteen calendar days of attendance (in person/distance/a combo) decides to withdraw from the school for the entire remainder of the year, they would be covered under the Tuition Protection Insurance. We strongly encourage families to consider the Tuition Protection Insurance and to carefully read the information about coverage levels provided.

Families are welcome to reach out to A.W.G. Dewar directly with questions and more information. Shorecrest has a 34-year relationship with A.W.G. Dewar and families have been receiving the insurance benefit without issue.
