Putting Spring in Our Step!

Head of School Letter

Now nine weeks into our spring semester, our centennial year is well underway with examples of our mission and core values in action all across our PK-12 campus.

For example, academic excellence is on full display in our 10 seniors who were recognized by the National Merit Program, including National Merit Finalists Addison Sptaru '23, Kevin Tang '23, and Dylan Winer '23. Robotics teams in both the Middle and Upper Schools are advancing in competition, and our Lower Schoolers are demonstrating their deep understanding through project shares.

Physical well-being is the driving goal of our Athletics and PE programs, and individuals, groups and teams of Chargers continue to excel. In a recent PE session, our Alpha and JK students visited the Haskell Field track to stretch and run - which they appeared to love, according to their smiles! Those youngest Chargers will one day be our Varsity athletes making all-star teams, like Avery McDonough '23, Mylie McDonough '23 and Taylor Register '23, our three Varsity Soccer players playing in the All-Star Game tomorrow

Creative achievement is evident just about everywhere you look at Shorecrest. From the stunning student-created visual art that adorns our walls, to the stage for the Middle School Variety Show, or our amazing second graders performing “A Small Part of the World” just this morning, the arts enrich our student experience and our overall campus and community culture.

The last pillar of our mission - a commitment to social responsibility - comes alive in ways large and small. From our teachers’ student-centered approach to honoring Black History Month, to our student-driven recertification of an Ocean-Guardian School, Shorecrest students showcase our core values of Responsibility, Respect, Integrity, Knowledge and Compassion.

Our students, teachers, staff and families have worked hard to make these last nine weeks an impressive example of our mission in action. I wish you all a restful and relaxing spring vacation and look forward to seeing our students back on Tuesday, March 14.

All the best,
Nancy
