Grandparent Council Tours Henry B. Plant Museum

SCA News

At Shorecrest’s Grandparent Council December event, members had lunch on campus and were invited to travel to Tampa together to tour the Henry B. Plant Museum.

During lunch, the group was joined by Roderick Avery Fludd, Shorecrest’s Director of Diversity and Inclusion. In the first session of an ongoing professional growth activity, the Grandparents had a discussion and activity about identity and how it connects to the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work being done at Shorecrest. The Grandparents talked about personal experiences that involved racial and socioeconomic diversity.

At the Henry B. Plant Museum members of the Grandparent Council viewed rooms containing furnishings of the 1891 Tampa Bay Hotel. Throughout the spaces, guests were able to envision what life was like during turn-of-the-century America and the vision of American transportation pioneer, Henry B. Plant.
