The Junior Kindergartners used books, videos and iPads for researching sea life, as well as plastic, rubber and stuffed representations for examination, discovery and play. But the highlight of the ocean study was getting up close and personal with actual specimen from the sea!
Donning rubber gloves, the students used their eyes, magnifying glasses and hands to examine real octopus, squid, crabs and fish to confirm previous knowledge and make new discoveries. It was a bit smelly, and we were thankful for the outdoor classroom, but it was an exciting learning adventure for all!
