Enjoying our harvest

Experiential School News

Gardens of The Experiential School of Tampa Bay continue to flourish, and it was time this week to do some early harvesting. The Alpha students were thrilled to see how their radishes had grown and got to pick, and later taste, the first of their crops.

In Junior Kindergarten, the cabbages have grown beyond expectations! The first ones were ready for picking just in time to use in the preparation of golumpki, a Polish stuffed-cabbage dish traditionally made for special events and holidays. From picking the cabbage, to separating the steamed leaves, browning the ground turkey, spooning it onto and rolling it in the leaves, and then covering them with tomato sauce, the children enjoyed every step of the process. The best part, however, as you can tell by their faces and empty bowls, was eating this very special treat!
