Ms. Jotch's class visited with Ms. Boarman's fourth grade class to learn about composting. The fourth graders had created a sorting game that helped the JK students learn what can and cannot go into the compost bins. They learned that fruits, vegetables, shredded paper, egg shells, coffee grounds, grass clippings and leaves all are items that can be composted.

The older students explained and demonstrated the process of composting, and let the younger children peer into and mix the contents of the fourth grade composters. The children in Ms. Jotch's class plan to teach the other two JK classes about composting, and they will begin filling the composter in their own garden soon.
