In Mrs. Hahn's Junior Kindergarten class, students have been learning science, math, and problem-solving skills through cooking. The students recently encountered a mystery kitchen tool and made observations about what it could possibly be. Sophia noticed that it had sharp edges. Jack observed that it turns around the sharp edges. Ronen thought maybe it could break stuff. After each student had a chance to make an observation, Mrs. Hahn and Mrs. Reynolds asked Jackson and his guest expert (his mom!) to introduce the tool - an apple slicer! Each child had the opportunity to peel and slice one apple and then they used our knowledge of recipes and ingredients to make apple pie.
We taste tested it at lunch and everyone agreed that they are all very talented chefs!
