Nightsong

Experiential School News

When we listen to stories, whatever our age, we're transported mentally to another time and place — and who couldn't use that right now?

Over the years teaching here and in Brazil, I have created a list of favorite stories, but I am always ready to come across a new story.

I think adults mistakenly categorize picture books as the ones written for children. They are indeed written with a young audience in mind, but not all titles are just for them. Here is a recommendation from me - a mom - to all of you.

The book is called "Nightsong," by Ari Berk, illustrated by Loren Long.

I promise I won’t spoil it, but here is a little excerpt.

“Sense is the song you sing out into the world, and the song the world sings back to you.”

I promise you will fall in love with Chiro, a little bat. His name was inspired by the word “chiroptera,” (from Greek, cheir, “hand” and pteron, “wing”), the order name for bats, the only mammals capable of true flight.

And his mom…  She is all of us!
Let me know how storytime goes.

Old Cameras
The Experiential School is looking for gently used cameras that have been sitting in your closets for way too long without being used. If you have one of these, please let us know if you would like to make a donation so our children can experiment with another tool that we can use to take pictures.

Illness
All students are expected to follow the sick policy and stay home if they are exhibiting any signs or symptoms of illness. If symptoms arise during the school day, the expectation is that parents will pick up the student within one hour of being notified by the nurse or office staff. Please review the 2021-2022 Family Handbook for more detailed information.

Carline
Thank you for having the children ready to go at the morning carline!
Your help is greatly appreciated!
