Shorecrest Prep junior Greyson Porter has established himself as one of the top high school golfers in the area. During a Labor Day tournament to kick off the season, Porter shot 72 at the Calvary Christian Invitational on Innisbrook's Copperhead Course.
Shooting 72 on the Copperhead Course is a tremendous way to start the season. Where do you go from here?

"I was very pleased with the way I played at Copperhead; I chipped and putted very well and that's key to shooting a good score out there. From here on I try to sharpen all my parts of my game and improve as much as possible heading into districts, regionals and states."
Do you think this might be the best Shorecrest team you've played on?
"I do believe this is the best team we have had at Shorecrest in a long time. Our team is always having fun, which gives us great team chemistry. All of the guys on the team seem to be confident in their games and are playing well, having a great coach like coach (Woody) Every, who helps us all out a lot is a great thing to have as well. He helps out with all parts of the game. Our main goal this year is to make it to states as a team, which is something this team has not done for a while as well, it would be great for the team."

Are you playing your best golf right now or is there room to improve?
"I think it's hard to say I'm playing my best golf right now, 'cause in golf you can always improve, but I'm confident in the way I'm playing. In golf, you're always trying to get better, which is why I never stop. …I'm just trying to hit as many fairways and greens right now and if I do that then good things will happen."
