8th Grade Bay Grasses Update

Middle School News

8th graders ventured out on Friday, September 12, to work on the bay grass plot. They practiced using traditional hydrometers to measure the water's salinity and digital pH meters to measure the pH of the water. Part of their job was to eliminate any invaders, such as other species of grass and algae. They did a great job, worked hard, and got sweaty and dirty. While there, we encountered a Florida brown water snake, a leopard frog, and a three basilica spiders. One group spotted what looked like a juvenile green heron perched in the trees right next to the plot, a pretty cool find.
