Hundreds of Shorecrest families packed the Athletic Center on Sunday, August 23, for Spirit Night, the official kickoff of the 2015-16 Charger athletic season. Sponsored by the Booster Club, Spirit Night began with a welcome from Athletic Director Jeff Raab who introduced the fall athletic teams as well as the new Assistant Athletic Director Matt Thompson. Coach Raab reminded the crowd of the many accomplishments of the 2014-15 athletic seasons, including a number of city, regional, state and even national championships, and emphasized that ALL Shorecrest families are automatically members of the Booster Club and may attend any home games free of charge. Come out and support your Chargers!
Following the introductions, Headmaster Mike Murphy addressed the crowd and gratefully acknowledged the Booster Club Board for providing funding for the new baffles on the gym ceiling. The acoustics in the building have been transformed, and the proof came in how well everyone was heard that night! Our Charger Cheerleaders got the crowd going while DJ Ben Daniele pumped up the jams and stirred up some friendly competition with a number of games for the young children. Families enjoyed a delicious buffet from Tijuana Flats, as well as some Menchies frozen yogurt for dessert.
Students received giveaways of megaphones, pompoms and frisbees - perfect accessories for cheering on the Chargers! Congratulations to Middle School’s Mrs. Howell who won the Spirit Wear raffle bag of goodies. The branded items will come in handy as she coaches the Little Sparkes junior cheerleaders!
Thank Yous!
