ES Dates to Remember
In June 2016, PowerSchool, the #1 provider of K-12 education technology solutions, acquired Haiku Learning. Our Haiku system and teacher pages have been renamed as PowerSchool Learning. A login is required to use PowerSchool Learning, and the information has been emailed to all Shorecrest parents.
Event Parking
When there is an event on campus during the school day and many parents are invited and need parking spaces, an event parking area is opened on the soccer field across from the main Admin building (the wood building which houses Mike Murphy's office and Admissions.) There will be a sign stating "Event Parking" when weather permits and the field is open. Look for parking here during special events such as Poetry in the Park or during student performance.
ES Online Chat
Now that you have attended the ES Parent Orientation and Back to School Night and your child has happily transitioned into the school life, you may have questions. The Alpha and JK faculty and I would like to offer an online chat session where we can answer them. The date and time of the online chat will be announced soon. To help plan for this session, please email me topics you are wondering about and specific queries at [email protected].
Parent Social
Building Relationships Within our ES and Shorecrest Community
You will receive a Paperless Post invitation for the ES Parent Social this week. Attend and enjoy this casual evening of making personal connections and socializing with the parents of your child’s new friends. The ES faculty, Mr. Murphy, Dr. Bianco, Mrs. Craft, Ms. Kemp and I look forward to spending time with each of you at the Red Mesa Cantina.
Shorecrest Directories
After Labor Day, printed copies of the Shorecrest Directory, which will contain class lists and contact information for Shorecrest families and faculty will be distributed. Until then, you can access family contact information through FAM. Quick links to find FAM and PowerSchool Learning (formerly Haiku) are at the top of the Parents page of Shorecrest.org.
School Pictures
On September 6, students will be individually photographed for the yearbook. Alpha and JK students should wear their regular school uniform. Please arrive on time, since ES students will have their photos taken early in the morning. Order forms to purchase packets of these photos must be returned before or on September 6. If your child is absent, there will be another opportunity for him/her to be photographed on Retake Day, October 4.
Volunteer with Book Buddies
Book Buddies is a group of parents that help keep the library in order. They meet a couple times each month, but you do not have to come every time, whatever works for your schedule through the year will make a difference. Young children welcome. Learn more at a get-to-know-you coffee / library open house right after drop off on Friday, Sept. 8 in the Student Activity Center (the room between the library and theater). If you can’t make breakfast but want more information, please contact one of our committee chairs: Christina LeBlanc at [email protected] or Sydney Legakis at [email protected].
